THIS IS FOR NEW MEMBERSHIPS ONLY
Eligibility in The American Legion is open to all service men and women that have served on active duty during a time of war and have received an honorable discharge or are still serving honorably. The eligible dates and branches of service are listed below:
- United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines 12/7/41 - 12/31/46 (only eligibility)
Gulf War/War On Terror - August 2, 1990 - cessation of hostilities as determined by U.S Government
Panama - December 20, 1989 - January 31, 1990
Lebanon/Grenada - August 24, 1982 - July 31, 1984
Vietnam War - February 28, 1961 - May 7, 1975
Korean War - June 25, 1950 - January 31, 1955
World War II - December 7, 1941 - December 31, 1946
World War I - April 6, 1917 - November 11, 1918
Merchant Marines 12/7/41 - 12/31/46 (only eligibility)
By ordering this membership, you're certifying that you served at least one day of active military duty during the dates marked above and was honorably discharged or are still serving honorably.
